The Details

SIRCAL Contracting was selected as the general contractor for the Helias Sports Complex project in the summer of 2016.  Prior to the major portions of construction, SIRCAL Contracting worked extensively with the entire project team in cost saving efforts for the Owner to get the project in budget.   This project is the new home of Helias football, soccer, tennis, track, and field sports.  This 15-acre site was cleared and older houses surrounding the site demolished.  Over 60,000 cy of rock removal was incorporated into the site grading plan and features a bowl shape and has several large cast-in-place and segmental retaining walls.  A total of 5 buildings were constructed. The football stadium has a large multi-story gateway pressbox along with north and south buildings which have locker rooms and offices along with concessions and public restrooms.  The cast-in-place concrete grandstands will seat over 2,800 people for football games.

There is also a soccer building with a pressbox, concessions and changing rooms.  The soccer bleachers will seat over 300 spectators.  The tennis pavilion sits in the center of 8 tennis courts.  This pavilion has a covered 2nd story viewing deck that will accommodate around 60 fans for a unique match experience.  Both fields for football and soccer are synthetic turf fields.  Football has a 20’x24’ scoreboard with a 9’x13’ HD video display board.

The large athletic lighting system was also included. A large amount of road improvements along with a 90’ pedestrian tunnel under Myrtle Street that connects the Sports Complex to the Helias campus.
